This accessibility statement applies to the Funding Awards site, https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/
This website is run by the National Institute for Health and Care Research, the NIHR. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.
For example, that means you should be able to:
change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
read most of the website on devices without a screen, like a braille computer
use the website, though not the search, even if Javascript is switched off
We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand, using plain English wherever possible.
Some of our content is technical, and contains scientific terms and language. In some instances we have not been able to simplify the wording without changing the meaning of the text.
If you have a problem accessing any documents then AbilityNet has advice to help you make your device easier to use .
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. We are in the process of commissioning an accessibility audit and will update this section with a full list of accessibility issues once they are fully understood.
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact: NIHR CBI .
If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille:
Email cbi@nihr.ac.uk
We’ll consider your request and aim to get back to you in 5 working days.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) .
The NIHR is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 .
The website is in the process of being tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) [2.1 or 2.2] AA standard.
(b) We believe that this website is partially compliant with the [ Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard or Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 .
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
We are aware of the following issues on our site:
Some links and buttons are empty. This fails WCAG 2.4.4 (link purpose in context)
The search box has a missing form label. This fails WCAG 1.1.1 (non-text content)
We plan to correct these issues in a new iteration of our design system to be published shortly. It will meet accessibility standards in full.
We are aware of the following issues within the links on our site:
Many older PDF files contain broken links which do not resolve - we do not intend to resolve these as it is a disproportionate burden .
We have converted most of our existing PDFs into an accessible format. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
We are currently organising a full accessibility audit of the Funding Awards website, and will list its findings when they are available.
